The Spanish Chess Federation and the Consejo Superior de Deportes have made public the ranking of the best open chess tournaments played in Spain during the year 2022. The Llobregat Open Chess Tournament, with 3031 points, is the first in the ranking and the only one that exceeds three thousand points. The last edition of the tournament brought together 225 participants from 44 countries at the Can Massallera cultural center in Sant Boi.
By categories, the tournament included 49 Grand Masters (GM), 11 Women Grand Masters (WGM), 41 International Masters (IM), 2 Women International Masters (WIM), 44 FIDE Masters (FM), 3 FIDE Masters (WFM) and 9 Master Candidates (CM).
A new edition of the tournament
In 2023, the Llobregat Open Chess Tournament will celebrate its fourth edition on the same dates, which are already a tradition: from November 30 to December 8. The open will repeat venue: Can Massallera cultural center in Sant Boi de Llobregat. Organizational news of the future edition can be followed throughout the year at: elllobregat.com/openchess
The 3rd edition of the open also served to award 9 standards: 2 Grand Master (GM) and 7 International Master (IM).
