In this chronicle, unlike the previous ones, we will begin by examining the sports results. Next will come the tiebreakers. Then we will talk about the awards ceremony and, finally, we will pay tribute to our team.

In the traditional ringing of the bell that starts the round of play we were honored to be joined by Nuria Salan, Vice President of the Societat Catalana de Tecnologia and professor at the UPC. In sporting terms, the victory on the second board, with the black pieces, of the young Savva Vetokhin over Cristobal Henriquez stood out. The final classification was led by Yahli Sokolovsky (8 points), Savva Vetokhin (7.5) and a total of ten players with 7 points, with a tie-breaker for third place between Cristóbal Henríquez and Ido Gorshtein.

The tie-breaker, played at the Hotel El Castell, was of the highest sporting tension, as the winner would win an important economic prize and, on the other hand, the loser would leave empty-handed. Cristóbal Henríquez was the winner, as he won the first game of the tiebreaker and the second ended in a draw. Gorshtein, despite the logical disappointment for him, showed excellent manners, accepting defeat with sportsmanship. In Group B the final classification was: 1st Piotr Dukaczewski (7 points), 2nd Jacek Stachanczyk (6) and 3rd Jordi García (6). And as for Group C: 1st Javier Sanz (8), 2nd Narek Danielyan (7.5) and 3rd Hailey Ruth Van De Graaff (7). The awards ceremony took place in the same room that hosted the tiebreaker, with the presence, from left to right of the table of authorities, of the Diputat Provincial d’Esports Jesús Naharro, the Mayoress of Sant Boi and President of the Diputació, Lluïsa Moret, the Territorial Delegate of Baix Llobregat of the Conselleria d’Esports de la Generalitat de Catalunya César Tovar and José Viñas, President of the Federació Catalana d’Escacs. The awards ceremony was opened by AI Hernán Siludakis, who introduced the authorities present and announced that the VI El Llobregat Open Chess Tournament is already in the works. The mayoress Lluïsa Moret highlighted the strong link between the chess festival and Sant Boi de Llobregat, as well as the educational dimension of the event and the fact that children have a good reference in the chess players. After the speeches by the authorities, the Director of the Llobregat Open Chess Tournament, Xavier Pérez Llorca, took the floor and announced, among other things, that in its next edition the main tournament will offer economic prizes to the first 30 classified. He also indicated that 8 master rules had been achieved, so that 4 had been for men and 4 for women, highlighting the commitment of the Llobregat Open Chess Tournament with women’s chess. Then the prizes were awarded, with the corresponding photos in the photocall, which were very applauded by the large audience present. Among the well-known faces we could see, for example, Ramon Chalmeta, director of the Federació Catalana d’Escacs and GM Tomás Sosa.

At this point we want to make special mention of our rebroadcasters, who have made possible that we have retransmission of all the boards of Group A in each round of play: Armand Reig, Andrés Durán and Paco Menéndez. Nor do we want to forget our fabulous refereeing team: AI Hernán Siludakis, AI Miguel Ramos, AI Lali Bibilashvili, AI Alexandra Muratet, AF Susana Maximiano, AN Albert Pardina, AC Mane Amirkhanyan and AS Anna Bonals.
